Playground Safety EssentialsThere are many options to consider when building a playground, but there are a few concerns that should be at the top of the priority list.

Experience

The number one priority in constructing a playground is to find an installer who provides quality work. Whirl Construction holds years of experience building playgrounds. Our staff will help you obtain your goal by providing assistance from inception to completion of your playground.

Location

An important factor to think about is location. Whether it is a school, a neighborhood park, or backyard, it is imperative to be aware of troublesome areas. These areas include driveways, swimming pools or problematic landscapes. We offer a variety of retaining walls and pavers to accomplish your objective in creating a safe play area.

Curbing

Decorative curbing assists in playground maintenance, especially with wood fiber surfaces.

Safety

Creating a fun and attractive children's playground is the goal, but safety is a primary concern. One issue to consider is safety surfaces. There is a multitude of choices when it comes to the foundation of your playground. Some of these include bonded rubber, wood fiber, synthetic turf and rubber titles. Each of these will provide a safety measure for your children and peace of mind for you.

Changing Needs

As kids grow older, their needs change as well. With this in mind, take the time to review playground options with family members or community participants to find out what may or may not work for your project.

Traditional Playgrounds

Many traditional playgrounds have swings, slides, and jungle gyms, while others may have sandboxes, tunnels, and seesaws. These are exceptional playground components for young kids who seek an outlet for some fun and exercise.

Modern Play Areas

Playgrounds evolve as our children embrace change, so contemplate the possibility that you may have a few rock-climbing enthusiasts in your midst and fit in a climbing wall. In addition, you may decide to complement your playground with a skate park, which is fun for kids of all ages.

Environment

On any given day, the weather can change. It may get hot or there could be a chance of rain. One easy remedy is to provide a shelter for your children within the play area, so they can take a break from the elements.

Amenities

It's easy to forget a few basic items that can prove to be essential in the long run. Some items you may wish to consider are bike racks, tables, and litter receptacles, especially if you're building a community playground.

Kids can play for hours, and parents or caregivers may prefer to relax. With this in mind, you may want to consider adding a bench or even a shelter, such as a gazebo. Shelters not only provide shade but also an area for families to gather outdoors.

There are many concerns when building a children's play area. Whirl Construction can show you what is achievable for the playground in your life.
