While wintertime is fun and festive, and snow days are beautiful, it can be a bit of a bummer to realize you can’t utilize your beautiful backyard all throughout the year! Lucky for you, we’ve put together some helpful tips to winterize and enjoy your gazebo structure throughout the cold winter months.
Add a Gazebo Cover or Canopy
While a simple cloth gazebo cover won’t protect your gazebo from extreme circumstances like hurricane winds or a tornado, it may be all you need to keep the cold out and protect the inside of your gazebo. Gazebo canopies come in all different materials and forms, with the warmest of these being insulated material. Additionally, you can find gazebo covers with plastic windows to allow the sun to come in while the cold stays out.
Invest in a Patio Heater
While patio heaters used to be available only in industrial, restaurant-patio sizes, they are now far more popular and easily accessible in multiple sizes, shapes, and most importantly, prices. Patio heaters are a great option for heating your patio and gazebo, as they do a great job at heating small spaces and are typically free-standing, so they don’t need to be plugged into the house.
Update Patio Furniture
In the winter months, it’s a great idea to update your patio furniture to include soft cushions and even blankets or throws to keep you and your guests warm and cozy — fabrics like fleece, wool and cotton are all good options. Avoiding metal furniture and opting for warmer materials, like wood, are also good options for keeping your winter gazebo hangouts more comfortable.
