If you’re a parent, chances are you’ve scoured your community for the best playgrounds. Finding the perfect playground for your kids is like finding a hidden jewel.

We’ve scoured the internet to find which parks in the tri-state area stand above the rest. These parks are known for their unique structures, amazing views, and ability to provide hours of fun for kids of all ages. Here, in no particular order, are our picks for the nine coolest parks in the tri-state area.

Overpeck County Park, Leonia, NJ

Besides having five miles of walking paths and fishing spots, the big draw of Overpeck County Park is the amazing playground. There are climbing walls, bridges, monkey bars, and wobbly tables. But the real draw is the giant climbing structure that looks like a spider web - complete with a trampoline in the center!

Kidstreet Playground, Bridgewater Township, NJ

Kidstreet is a perfect example of how parks can use recycled materials to create amazing play experiences. All structures were built by volunteers using only wood and tires. The park features several unique climbing structures, plus a balance beam, a jungle gym, and a zip line. Smaller kids have their own play area, too, so no one is left out of the fun!

Newport Green Park, Jersey City, NJ

A view of the New York City skyline and a beach? There’s a lot to love about Newport Green Park! Often called an urban oasis, the park features climbing areas, swings, and slides, all built on a safety surface that helps soften any tumbles. This playground also features a splash pad and a small beachfront area complete with Adirondack chairs. If you’re in the area, this is a must-see park!

Jake’s Place Playground, Cherry Hill, NJ

Jake’s Place is an all-inclusive playground that is designed to provide a fun and safe play area for special needs children and adults. This cushioned play area has wide ramps that can accommodate wheelchairs, sensory-friendly activities, rock walls, and structures to help children develop better coordination and balance. For parents who need a little peace of mind, this playground also features a security fence. Jake’s Place is truly a park for everyone, and your little one is sure to have a blast here.

Heckscher Playground, NY, NY

The oldest playground in Central Park, Heckscher Playground is a an open play area with plenty of space for kids to run and explore. The playground is located in the Southwest corner of the park and includes swings, slides, tunnels, climbing areas, and water play. In addition to the play areas, there are plenty of open areas for children to run unencumbered. If your kids like to play chase, hide-and-seek, or simply run about, this is the perfect playground.

Ancient Playground, NY, NY

This is another gem hidden in Central Park! The playground was built in 1972 and features a classic style rarely seen in playgrounds today. Kids will love climbing the stone structures and sliding down the nine (!) slides. On a hot day, families can take advantage of the water play areas. The playground gets its name from the nearby Egyptian galleries at the Museum of Modern Art. With giant pyramids and and tunnels, it’s a must-see park for adventure seekers of all ages.

Kids Castle, Doylestown, PA

Just one look at this playground will tell you why it’s nothing short of amazing! Kids Castle is an eight story wooden playground shaped like a castle.
